Query Language

The text search engine allows queries to be formed using the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, and grouped with parentheses.  Examples are provided next:

• engine  locomotive

finds documents containing 'engine' or 'locomotive'.

• engine  or  locomotive

same as above.

• locomotive  and  caboose

finds documents containing both 'locomotive' and 'caboose'.

• locomotive  not  engine

finds documents containing 'locomotive' but not 'engine'.

• (locomotive  not  engine)  and  caboose

finds documents containing 'locomotive', plus 'caboose' but not 'engine'.

• loco*

finds documents containing words starting with 'loco' (e.g.; locomotive).
